With these evocative words, Rux Founder & CEO Dr Jehan Kanga opened their winning three minute pitch at AOG Energy 2023, as part of the final NERA LETs Pitch competition. Rux was awarded both the judges’ vote, and the People’s Choice category.
Alongside an impressive contingent of finalists, including Ardent Underground, Green Gravity, and ROC Technologies, Rux Energy were chosen by an expert panel of judges including Joy Francis-Hayes, Russell James, Lisa Robson, Sam Bruce, Dr Jitendra Joshi and Prof. Eric May to receive international pitch readiness training by SecondNature International, in preparation to join Austrade’s Clean Energy Mission in Singapore later this year.
Taking place in June 2023, the Mission will promote Australia’s expertise and capacity in new technologies to support Singapore and Australia’s transition to net-zero emissions. It will provide an excellent platform for Australian SMEs to capture opportunities in the energy sector in Singapore, and for participants to gain a first hand understanding of the significant upcoming developments and opportunities.
The new pitch revealed Rux’s pilot trial for port power, in partnership with BE&R and LETs Pitch alumni Oceania Energy, with the staggering goal of reducing port emissions by 15,000 tonnes per annum for each containerised unit delivered.
As Dr Kanga shared in the pitch, “while green grids might be an option in the long term, they’re not happening for ports now. The current sticking point is diesel. The supply chain is efficient, it’s what ships use right now, and there are costs to undertake transformation.
In the absence of anyone providing an alternative, Rux is stepping up – our advantage is that we’re efficient, we’re safe and we can deploy right now.”
Also appearing as part of a panel focused on decarbonising Australia’s oil and gas industry, alongside Remsense’s Anthony Roe and Oceania Energy/BE&R’s Mark Evans, the trio of founders shared their insights on what it will take to transition into a zero emissions future.
Rux is looking forward to working strategically with Austrade and the Australian delegation in Singapore.
