Rux Energy was honoured to welcome Japan’s Minister for Economic Security, Kimi Onoda, to Rux Energy during her visit to Cicada Innovations on Monday 27 July 2026.

Minister Onoda — whose responsibilities also span Science & Technology Policy, Space Policy, AI Strategy and Intellectual Property Strategy — visited Rux Energy’s Sydney labs along with a delegation of senior Japanese government and departmental officials.

The visit gave our team the opportunity to introduce Rux Energy’s advanced hydrogen storage technology, share the progress we’re making towards commercialisation, and discuss the role Australian deep tech can play in supporting Japan’s energy security and decarbonisation ambitions.

Japan is an important market for Rux Energy and a natural partner for Australia in the development of new hydrogen technologies that will enable export of hydrogen as a renewable energy source to Japan. Engagement at this level is particularly valuable as we continue building relationships with Japanese industry, investors and strategic partners.
