Dr Jehan Kanga is a multi-award winning scientist, Founder and CEO of Rux Energy, an advanced materials startup delivering breakthrough efficiency gains for dispatchable hydrogen storage, enabling step change efficiencies for heavy mobility, maritime, rail, road, energy distribution networks, and heavy industry. They are leading several global collaborative heavy transport and maritime decarbonisation projects, interfacing with nearly a dozen Universities and public research institutions across Australia, UK and Singapore. Rux Energy is the only non-Singaporean company to have been awarded a Prize at the PIER71 Smart Port Challenge in 2023, under their leadership.
Previously, Jehan was an emerging clean tech leader at KPMG Australia, completed a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Sydney, and has been listed as 40 Under 40 Most Influential Asian Australians in 2019 by Asialink, and was awarded India Australia Business Council Young Professional of the Year 2021. They are a recognised thought leader, presenting at major hydrogen conferences and events in Australia, USA, UK, Singapore, Europe and UAE.
Dr Marlene Kanga AO is Chair and Director of Rux Energy. She is an experienced non-executive director, has held leadership roles in large Australian organisations in energy, innovation, transport and utilities. She has been listed among the top 100 engineers making a contribution to Australia in the last 100 years, Top 100 Women of Influence in Australia and Top 10 women engineers in Australia. She has had extensive experience in process safety and risk engineering and is the chair of the international Institution of Chemical Engineers Safety Centre, leading process safety best practice globally and member of the ISO Technical Committee 197(ISO TC197) that is developing standards on Hydrogen.
Marlene studied chemical engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), has a Masters degree from Imperial College London and a PhD in Finance from Macquarie University Sydney.
Dr Chanel Leong is Head of Project Management and Operations responsible for managing Rux Energy R&D projects across Research, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations to ensure timely delivery of our product roadmap and funding milestones. Chanel has over five years experience in product development at biotech startups in Europe and Canada, focused on developing disruptive, nanomaterials-based technologies. Chanel completed a PhD Chemistry in Metal-Organic Framework Materials at the University of Sydney.
Dr Emily Reynolds is Head of Materials Research, leading Rux Energy research projects in Australia and internationally. Emily has more than 10 years experience in conducting and managing research projects across Australia, the UK, USA and Europe. She has been a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Sydney, University of Oxford and Faraday Institution. She completed a Bachelor of Science and a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Sydney.
Kara Hatherly is Data and Automation Advisor, leading software development and automation leader at Rux Energy where she’s working on an experiment tracking, automation and visualisation platform. Kara was most recently at Atlassian, where she spent nearly fourteen years working in and around Jira. Her last few years there were as a software architect. Before that she had brief stints at Microsoft and Macquarie Bank. Kara has a double degree in software engineering & politics and international relations from the University of New South Wales, Sydney.
Professor Cameron Kepert is Chief Scientific Advisor and is Professor of Chemistry, University of Sydney, a multi-award winning researcher and a global key opinion leader in hydrogen sorption in nano porous materials. His research interests include materials chemistry, molecular framework materials, X-ray diffraction, nanoporosity and the electronic and magnetic properties of solids.
Dr Chiara Fois is Materials Manufacturing Manager, responsible for scaling up and optimising the manufacturing process and implementing sustainable approaches for key manufacturing inputs for Rux Energy nanoporous materials. In her previous roles in academia and industry, Chiara has applied process engineering to address sustainability-related challenges while translating research results into commercial applications. Chiara holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from The University of Sydney and a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Chemical Process Engineering from The University of Cagliari.
Robert Edge is Business Development Manager, leading business collaboration and partnerships for Rux Energy UK. Previously he was involved with encouraging foreign direct investment and promoting UK investment in the ports and logistics and energy sector in the county of Essex. He has particular interests in the use of data analytics in the logistics industry and was Eastern Region Chairman at the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. Robert has a Bachelor of Arts degree in European Business Studies from Buckinghamshire New University.
Bill is Board Advisor and a member of the Rux Energy Leadership Team. Previously, Bill has been a serial entrepreneur establishing seven companies in manufacturing, management consulting, professional services, publishing and as an Angel Investor in financial services. Most recently, Bill was CEO of Shipley Asia Pacific, a division of Shipley Associates, a US based global management consulting firm servicing top 200 companies. He is also involved in health coaching at the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney and John Hopkins Medical School. He has a BSc in Business Administration, from the Old Dominion University, USA.
Addisonne Dieudonne is the Advanced Technology Project Lead, National Composites Centre UK, a Research and Technology Organization, that is part of the UK Catapult network, delivering research and development in carbon composite materials through collaboration with industry, including with Rux Energy.
Professor Anna Paradowska is conjoint Professor in Advanced Structural Materials, University of Sydney and at the Australian Centre for Neutron Scattering (ACNS) at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO). Anna is also a Program Leader of the Advanced Composite Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC), Sydney.
Steven Wilson is Head of Innovation Freeport East Ltd, and has developed a dedicated Freeport East Innovation Cluster and facilitating new commercial / academic partnerships such as the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub and a new Green Hydrogen /Energy Hub, supporting local SMEs, including Rux Energy UK to collaborate and innovate, especially for maritime applications.
Professor Gangadhara Prusty, is Research Director Advanced Composite Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC), Sydney and Professor of Engineering at UNSW Sydney, where Rux Energy is a member and partner. Professor Prusty is an expert in composite materials mechanics and automated manufacturing technologies for both composite structures.
Associate Professor Garth Pearce, is based at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, UNSW, Sydney, specialising in the mechanics and design of composite structures and tools to efficiently design composite structures for improved structural integrity, stability and response to extreme conditions. He is is a Program Leader of the Advanced Composite Manufacturing Cooperative Research Centre (ACM CRC), Sydney, leading collaboration with Rux Energy on composite materials.
Professor Ying Xie is Professor of Supply Chain Analytics Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management at Cranfield University UK. She is Principal Investigator, representing Cranfield in the UK National Clean Maritime Research Hub along with 11 other universities and industry partners including Rux Energy, to accelerate the decarbonisation and elimination of greenhouse gas emissions for the maritime sector
